Written while working for GeoVISTA Center, this Flex application was work in combining multiple sources of flu-related data into a single map-based interface. I turned the application over to a grad student in May 2007 and have not been involved since, although it appears unchanged.
Written while working for the Center for Environmental Informatics, this Flex application was developed for the NRCS. It brings "USDA Agriculture Handbook 286: Land Resource Regions (LRR) and Major Land Resource Areas (MLRA) of the United States, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Basin" to the Web and allows the user to search for MLRAs by LRR/MLRA, state/county, federal lands from four agencies, ecoregions, HUCs, and PLSS parcels, as well as an interactive map.
Due to browser URL length limits, a Java servlet was written to convert map style parameters into the extensive markup required to style the map. The servlet builds the SLD, makes the map request to GeoServer, and streams the resulting image back to the application.
